Biography

During his two years of Master’s degree at ITMO, he worked as a design engineer at a machine-building plant, designed and launched into production a line (about 60 modifications) of transporters.

He was part of the team that created the Selenokhod lunar rover, which participated in the Google Lunar XPRIZE technology competition. He was engaged in developments in the field of space rendezvous systems. Member of the first Russian team of the Mars Desert Research Station program: he was the chief engineer in the crew that worked out a two-week isolation at the Martian base (which was an astronaut training base in Utah, USA).

In 2013, he co-founded the Motorika company (one of the top 3 largest MedTech companies in Russia according to the SmartRanking agency for 2023). In 2019, Motorika engineers installed a bionic prosthesis on a seven-year-old girl for the first time in Russia, and in 2021, the company performed the first operation in the country to implant electrodes that transmit tactile sensations from prostheses.

In 2024, Ilya Chekh, together with Galina Malygina (co-founder of Motorika), founded the scientific and technological Guild «Frontiers of Science».
